Committees are underway: Do you see an opportunity for improvement in your workplace? Do you want to get involved in positive change? A Union – Hospital committee may be just the thing for you!
Labor Management: We will continue to have monthly labor management meetings on the 4th Monday of each month. We have 10 seats; we have open positions on the committee; time spent in committee is paid time. Chaired by Maria Burke.
Staffing Committees: In Negotiations we agreed to convene staffing committees in conjunction with our labor management committee. We need Union representatives to this committee to address staffing concerns in your department. Time spent in these committees is paid time.
Hospital Situational Awareness for Everybody Subcommittee: We have one position on this committee. The committee meets on 4th Wednesday of Month, from 1-2 PM.
Labor Management Security Committee: this committee reviews and makes recommendations on issues of safety, such as structural, access, and violence. It would be good, at a minimum, to have Ambulatory, Inpatient, Emergency, and Behavioral Health involvement.
Safety: Metal Detectors: Metal detectors have been installed in the emergency department to help improve safety. Between March 20 & May 3rd the hospital identified 195 knives, 41 cans of pepper spray, 14 scissors, 2 firearms, and one BB-gun.
Healthcare Committee: This committee reviews and makes recommendations regarding employee Health Insurance. We have six (6) seats on this committee and are waiting on the hospital to provide current insurance data. We have also asked the hospital to provide average wait time, by specialty clinic and provider for appointments, and the next available primary care new patient visit.
General Updates: Please let us know if you have questions or concerns on these topics or any others!
Interpreter Qualifications: The hospital hopes to resume interpreter training in September.
$1000 Tax Rebate: The NM Legislature approved a tax rebate for full time RN’s. The Hospital is working on how they will provide the information needed for RN’s to take advantage of this tax break.
Educational Leave: You have the right to access up to 40 hours (prorated to your FTE) educational leave for your purposes. This excludes hospital required training and education. The Ultimate Kronos Group does not specifically list this as an available benefit. To access it, follow your department's usual process, such as written forms or email requests. If you have any problems accessing this benefit, let us know.
