Supply Issues:

The Union continues to learn of supply issues that potentially create unsafe environments for staff and patients. Please continue to report these to your leadership as soon as you become aware of them, but also, send an email to the Union. This helps us understand the scope and frequency of the problem and helps us make sure the hospital responds appropriately to the need.

Worker Safety:

Did you know your Union contracts have staffing protection language? Here are 3 examples:

Purpose: “Through a productive, constructive relationship between the Hospital and its employees, provide and improve quality patient care and enhance the professional standards of the employees.”

Article 4 Management Rights: “The Hospital recognizes the interest of employees in contributing to the mission of the Hospital in delivering quality patient care and encourages the constructive participation of employees in accomplishing this objective.”

Article 24 Hospital Safety: “Any employee having concern with the level of staffing, or with their patient assignment may notify the supervisor on duty and shall not be subject to discipline or retaliation for raising such concerns.”

Do you have concerns? Are you filing patient safety reports and notifying your manager? Are you filing Safe Harbor for RN’s? Are you satisfied with the response you get from your manager? No? There is more you can do! Call your Union for your next steps.

Contract negotiations

We only have a few more weeks before we begin negotiations with UNMH. Members who expressed interest in attending the negotiation orientation session this week have been contacted and provided with a zoom link. The first session was March 16th and the next orientation session will take place on March 18^th at 10 am via zoom.

Negotiation team training will take place March 24th at 4 pm and March 26^th at 10 am. Members who expressed an interest in participating on the negotiating team will receive the zoom link for this training as well.

Cuestiones de suministro:

El Sindicato continúa sabiendo de cuestiones de suministro que potencialmente crean ambientes inseguras para el personal y los pacientes. Por favor continúe informando de ésto a su liderazgo en cuanto usted se entere ésto, pero al mismo tiempo, mande un correo electrónico el Sindicato. Ésto nos ayuda a entender el alcance y frecuencia del problema y nos ayuda a asegurarnos que el hospital responda apropiadamente a la necesidad.

Seguridad del trabajador:

¿Sabía usted que sus contratos sindicales tienen lenguaje de protección del personal? Aquí están 3 ejemplos:

Propósito: “Mediante una relación productiva y constructiva entre el Hospital y sus empleados, proveer y mejorar la calidad de la atención al paciente y realzar las normas profesionales de los empleados”.

Artículo 4 Derechos administrativos: “El Hospital reconoce el interés de los empleados en contribuir a la misión del Hospital al entregar atención al paciente de calidad y anima la participación constructiva de los empleados en lograr este objetivo”.

Artículo 24 Seguridad hospitalaria: “Cualquier empleado que tenga preocupación con el nivel de la dotación de personal, o con su asignación de pacientes puede notificar al supervisor/a que esté de servicio y no deberá se sujeto/a a disciplina o represalias por sacar a la luz tales preocupaciones”.

Negociaciones de contrato

Solamente tenemos unas cuantas semanas más antes de que comencemos negociaciones con UNMH. Los miembros quienes expresaron interés en asistir a la sesión de orientación de negociación esta semana han sido contactados y provistos on un enlace de zoom. La primera sesión fue el 16 de marzo y la siguiente sesión se llevará a cabo el 18 de marzo a las 10 am mediante zoom.

La capacitación del equipo de negociaciones se llevará a cabo el 24 de marzo a las 4 pm y el 26 de marzo a las 10 am. Los miembros quienes expresaron interés en participar en el equipo de negociaciones recibirá el enlace de zoom para esta capacitación también.
