Negotiations UPDATE

We base our proposals for negotiations on what members think is important. Our pre-negotiations survey revealed your priorities, including general wage increase and wages that correspond to your years of service. In addition to general wage increases we learned that significant portions of workers at UH rely upon a second job, overtime, extra hours, or on-call to supplement their wage out of financial need. Of the survey respondents:

The percentage of respondents who regularly seek out overtime, extra hours, or on-call to supplement their income:

Support Staff 15% Licensed & Technical 61%

The percentage of respondents who have a second job with another employer out of financial need:

Support Staff 66% Licensed & Technical 25%

Hospital Supplied Uniforms UPDATE:

Under your Union contract workers in the support staff unit receive scrubs from the hospital – up to 5 uniforms per year (between June 30 and July 1).

Many housekeeping members have complained to management that their uniforms are tread-bare, torn, and generally worn out. They have followed the steps set forth by their manager and have yet to receive replacement uniforms- some have been wearing the same uniforms for years!

Last week a large group of housekeepers met with their management team to get the issue resolved! Way to go!

Support staff, have you received your Uniforms? Please let us know as soon as possible if you have had difficulties getting your Uniforms.

ACTUALIZACIÓN de las Negociaciones

Nosotros basamos nuestras propuestas sobre lo que los miembros piensan que es importante. Nuestra encuesta de prenegociaciones reveló sus prioridades, incluyendo aumento de salarios generales y salarios que correspondían a sus años de servicio. Aparte de los aumentos de los salarios generales, aprendimos que porciones significativas de los trabajadores en UH dependen de un segundo empleo, horas extras o estar de guardia para suplementar su salario debido a necesidad económica. De los encuestados:

El porcentaje de encuestados quienes regularmente buscaron tiempo adicional, horas extras o estar de guardia para suplementar su ingreso:

Autorizados y Técnicos 61% Personal de Apoyo 15%

El porcentaje de encuestados quienes tienen un segundo empleo con otro empleador debido a necesidad económica:

Autorizados y Técnicos 25% Personal de apoyo 66%

ACTUALIZACIÓN de los uniformes suministrados por el hospital:

Los trabajadores en la unidad de personal de apoyo reciben uniformes del hospital – hasta 5 uniformes por año (entre el 30 de junio y el 1 de julio).

Muchos miembros del servicio de limpieza se han quejado a la administración que sus uniformes están deshilados, rotos y generalmente gastados. Ellos han seguido los pasos expuestos por su director/a y hasta hora no han recibido uniformes de reemplazo – ¡algunos han estado usando los mismos uniformes por años!

¡La semana pasada un grupo grande de empleados del servicio de limpieza se reunieron con su equipo de administración para resolver la cuestión! ¡Así se hace!

Personal de apoyo, ¿han recibido sus uniformes? Por favor háganos saber lo más pronto posible si usted ha tenido dificultades para conseguir sus uniformes.
