Senate Bill 80, the bill introduced by Sen. Ortiz y Pino and Sen. Pope to appropriate $1.5 million to continue the Health Security Plan design process, is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Health & Public Affairs Committee tomorrow, Wednesday, January 26. The committee meets at 1:30 PM, or half an hour after the Senate floor session ends.
To watch the hearing, go to the legislature’s Webcast page. Please plan to attend! The committee chair usually asks for a show of hands in support of the legislation, and we'd like a lot of hands raised!
Supt. Toal Presents on Health Security Plan Design Progress
In connection with the hearing on the bill, Superintendent of Insurance Russell Toal has been asked to present to Senate Health & Public Affairs regarding the progress so far in the Health Security Plan design process.
Once again, go to the legislature’s Webcast page to watch. The committee begins at 1:30 PM; once the agenda is posted, we'll have a better sense of when the superintendent will be speaking.
Speak Up!
We need lots of testimony in favor of SB 80! Remember to keep your remarks brief: In one sentence, explain why continuing the design process is important to you.
We'll send out the Zoom link for testifying tomorrow morning, and we'll also post the link on our website. (The Zoom links for public participation change each day, and the link for tomorrow’s Health & Public Affairs Committee meeting is not yet posted.)
Call Your Senator (if they’re on the committee)
If your senator sits on Senate Health & Public Affairs, please call today and ask them to support SB 80, the Health Security Act Adoption Study. If you're not sure who your senator is, use the legislature's handy Find Your Legislator tool to find out.
