  • About Your Executive Board
    Updated On: Mar 17, 2016

The District is governed by an Executive Board consisting of the District Officers and Chapter Vice-Presidents. All of the members of the Executive Board, other than Officers, are elected by the membership of each district. Each Bargaining unit is entitled to a seat on the Executive Board as a Chapter Vice-President.
When the Executive Board is installed in office, they all take an oath; an oath to bear true allegiance to the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees. This means that every Executive Board member is working to protect and support their fellow members, and defend the Union’s name, integrity, and honor. Every Executive Board member is working to improve and further the future of District 1199NM.
The Executive Board has at least quarterly meetings to conduct the business of the District. In these meetings business usually surrounds:
    A.  Reports of officers and other District representatives.
    B.  Adopting and discussing an annual budget.
    C.  Discussing the disbursements of such funds of the District as in its discretion may be required for organization and administration purposes in order to promote the aims and objectives of the District.
    D. To invest and reinvest the funds of the District in such property, real or personal, tangible or intangible, as it shall consider prudent, necessary and desirable in the interest of the District and its members.
    E. To appoint Trustees or alternates of all trust funds established by the District or in which it has an interest as may be appropriate and required.
    F. To interpret the By-Laws; such interpretation shall be final, binding and conclusive and shall remain in full force and effect, unless revised, modified or otherwise changed by District Assemblies or the Executive Board of the National Union.
    G. To formulate plans, programs and policies in conjunction with National Union and consistent with the National Union plans, programs and policies.
    K. To determine the number of organizers to be appointed.
    L. To fix the salaries for the office, technical and professional employees of the District

The Executive Board maintains the principals of democracy within the Union and ensures that the District is effective and efficient.
